The centre of Alcossebre is the area between Plaza Vista Alegre and Cargador beach. It's the liveliest part of town, with the most shops and services, and the best base if you want to do everything on foot. This is where you'll find the Mare Nostrum apartments, on Carrer del Barquer.
What's within a few minutes' walk
From Mare Nostrum, all the essentials are close by:
- Cargador beach: about 2 minutes away (around 200 metres).
- A supermarket, shops and small local businesses.
- A chemist and medical centre, an important detail if you're travelling with children or older people.
- Banks, bars and restaurants.
- The seafront promenade, with paddleboard hire and a sailing club on the beach.
- Tourist Info Alcossebre, in Plaza Vistalegre.

Town centre or residential estates?
Alcossebre has three main areas to stay in: the centre and Cargador, Las Fuentes, next to the marina, and Romana beach, further south. On top of these there are residential estates on the slopes of the Serra d'Irta.
| Area | Main advantage | Bear in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Centre and Cargador | Everything on foot: beach, shops, restaurants | Livelier in summer |
| Las Fuentes | Marina and a quiet promenade | Further from the shops in the centre |
| Romana beach | Long, family-friendly beach | More residential |
| Hillside estates | Nature and peace | You depend on the car |
For groups and large families, the centre has an extra advantage: everyone can get around on their own without arranging lifts. We explain it in apartments for groups.
